About Us
Mission and Fields of Action
Our Mission
- To promote volunteer work in different areas of human activity.
- To provide a response to the needs of our sector.
Our Three Fields of Action
1. Support organizations in their development, promotion, and recognition of volunteerism
This field includes all actions that focus on the development, promotion, and recognition of volunteerism and how to support community volunteers in their engagement.
2. Community support
This field includes all the actions taken to offer services to individuals and support to organisations.
3. Governance and association life
The Center must represent a model of ethical action for the community and must contribute to supporting organisations. It also must have a democratic governance that demonstrates the drive and vitality of its community life.
History
The Volunteer Center, initially known as S.B.R.R.B.S. (Stanstead, Beebe, Rock-Island Regional Benevolent Society), was founded and incorporated in 1980.
In 1994, Mr. Reginald Rediker donated the former Catholic boy’s school in Beebe to the Volunteer Center and, in honour of this generous donation, the Center’s name was officially changed to the R.H. Rediker Volunteer Center on January 11th, 1995.
In 2005 the Ursulines donated the building located on 492 Dufferin Street to highlight their community involvement.
The Center is administrated by a Board of Directors made up of volunteers, beneficiaries, professionals and representatives of community organisations of the territory served.

The Stanstead Volunteer Center must set up measures to ensure the safety and well-being of their client base. This process – called filtering – is applied to all volunteers and includes police record checks.
The volunteer respects the rules and regulations of the Center.
Volunteer drivers must show proof of automobile insurance and a valid driver’s license every year.
The rules of the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) apply in any case of accident which has caused injuries to the volunteer driver, a beneficiary or a third party.
