Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels is offered to:

  • seniors 60 years of age,
  • the physically impaired,
  • the chronically ill or convalescent and
  • mothers with a new baby.

The Stanstead Volunteer Center offers a well balanced meal consisting of a soup, a main course and dessert.

Every Monday through Friday for only $6.00 per meal, volunteers deliver your meal to your home.

Deliveries in Stanstead Township: on Wednesdays. Deliveries in Ayer’s Cliff: on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Frozen meals are also available for the weekend.

Accompanied Transport

This service is offered to any person who has a medical appointment outside of his/her municipality of residency.

A volunteer will pick you up at your home, will wait during your appointment, and will drive you back home.

Accompanied transport is available seven (7) days a week.

Fees vary according to the destination.

Call at least 48 hours (2 days) before the day of your appointment.

Errand Accompaniment

This service is offered to seniors over 60 years old, who require some assistance to run their errands.

A volunteer will drive you to the grocery store, bank, hair salon, and other errands judged essential by the Stanstead Volunteer Center.

People wanting to receive this service should call the Center for an evaluation.

There is a cost associated with this service.

Activity days

These days are for seniors and middle-aged people who live in the area served by the Center. On Thursdays, come share a meal, have fun, exchange ideas, or attend lectures on various topics. Where? At 112 Main Street, Stanstead.

Friendly Visits and Phone Calls

This service is offered to seniors who are ailing, lonely or in need of occasional company. Depending on volunteer availability, arrangements can be made with the Center for home visits or phone calls.

Booking Health Appointments

Would you like to book an appointment for a vaccine or a blood test? If so, The Centre d’action bénévole can help.

Stand-Up Program

Stand-Up is a complete program of easy exercises to do for seniors 60 or older who reside at home and/or who have fallen.

The aim of Stand-Up is to preserve your autonomy so as to enable you to live at home safely, and as long as possible.

This free program is offered for a period of 12 weeks and instructed by a physical readaptation therapist.

Pair Program

Pair is a personalized automated call service that contacts you daily to check on your health and ensure you have taken your medication. If you do not respond after three attempts within 20 minutes, the system triggers an alert and a home visit is made to check on your health.

Stay at home with peace of mind. The Pair program can help you remain in your home longer by monitoring your health and safety and promoting peace of mind for you and your loved ones. Pair is free and has saved many lives in Quebec!
